Germany’s Alexander Zverev defeated the USA’s Ben Shelton in the US Open 2026 men’s singles final, winning his second Grand Slam title of the year.
- Zverev secured his second major title of the year after winning his maiden Grand Slam at Roland Garros 2026, becoming the first German men’s singles champion at the US Open since Boris Becker (1989).
- He became only the fourth man in the Open Era to win his first two Grand Slam titles in the same calendar year, joining Jannik Sinner, Guillermo Vilas and Jimmy Connors.
- He recorded a 25-2 Grand Slam match record, reached at least the semifinals in all four Grand Slams, and became the ninth player in the Open Era to achieve this feat.
- He is a Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medallist (held in 2021), a two-time ATP Finals champion, and a multiple ATP Masters 1000 winner.
- Following his 2026 US Open victory, Alexander Zverev remained the World No. 2 player in the ATP Rankings, behind Jannik Sinner.
