International Yoga Day 2024:
- Every year on June 21st, people worldwide celebrate International Yoga Day to promote the numerous benefits of practicing yoga.
- This special day coincides with the summer solstice, which is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.
- The official theme for International Yoga Day 2024 is “Yoga for Women Empowerment”.
World Music Day 2024:
- World Music Day or Fête de la Musique is celebrated every year on 21 June.
- This special day was conceived in 1981 by Jack Lang, the French Minister of Culture, along with music composer Maurice Fleuret and radio producer and music journalist, with the aim of dedicating a day to music and its universal language.
International Day of the Celebration of the Summer Solstice 2024:
- The International Day of the Celebration of the Summer Solstice is a relatively new occasion, first observed in 2020 by the United Nations.
- The summer solstice typically falls on either June 20th or 21st in the Northern Hemisphere and December 21st or 22nd in the Southern Hemisphere.
India ranks sixth globally in deep-tech startup ecosystems: Nasscom
- India is home to over 3,600 startups in the deep-tech space, and ranks sixth in the global deep-tech ecosystem, according to a recent Nasscom-Zinnov study.
- Of the 3,600 deep-techs over 480 deep-tech startups were established in CY23 alone, which is two times higher than in 2022, the report titled ‘India’s deep-tech dawn: forging ahead’.
RBI Governor addresses the second edition of the Global Conference on Financial Resilience:
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das emphasized the transformative potential of advanced and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and big data analytics in financial institutions.
- Speaking at the second edition of the global conference on financial resilience organized by the College of Supervisors (CoS) of RBI in Mumbai.
Times Of India No. 1 news brand in country:
- Times of India is the most trusted major news media brand in India, according to a 47-country survey conducted by Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism (RISJ), Oxford University.
- The survey, released as part of Digital News Report 2024, an annual publication by the institute, found TOI had a trust score of 71.
- TOI had also topped the survey in 2021 and 2022.

- Westbridge Capital, a private equity firm, has sold its 1.75% stake (1.30 crore shares) in Jaipur (Rajasthan) – based AU Small Finance Bank(SFB) limited for Rs 845.10 crore through an open market transaction.

- Olympic and World Champion Neeraj Chopra secured a gold medal with 85.97m in the third attempt in men’s javelin throw at Paavo Nurmi Games 2024, a World Athletics Continental Tour (Gold level) event held on 18th June 2024 in Turku, Finland (Europe).
- Finland’s Toni Keranen claimed the silver medal with a personal best throw of 84.19m, and Oliver Helander (Finland) won the bronze medal with 83.96m.
Chess: GM Arjun Erigaisi Wins Stepan Avagyan Memorial RR Tournament 2024:
- Indian Grandmaster (GM) Arjun Erigasi(20 years old) won the title of the 2024 Stepan Avagyan Memorial 17th-category Round Robin(RR) Chess Tournament held at Jermuk, Armenia from 9th to 18th June 2024.
- Arjun finished with 6.5 points after winning four games and splitting the points in 5 rounds.
- He completed the final (9th) round against Armenia’s GM Manuel Petrosyan in a draw.
West Bengal Government Launched first-of-its-kind Centralised Admission Portal for Undergraduate College Admissions:
- The West Bengal government launched first-of-its-kind “Centralised Admission Portal” for admission to undergraduate courses in state government colleges and recognised universities.
- The portal was launched by Bratya Basu, School and Higher Education Minister, West Bengal at the Bikash Bhavan in Kolkata, West Bengal.
