Ministry of Women and Child Development Launches 100-Day Special Awareness Campaign on Women’s Empowerment:
- The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) organized the “National Workshop on SANKALP: Hub for Empowerment of Women – Launch of the 100-Days Special Awareness Campaign” at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.
GoI approves new transmission schemes worth ₹13,595 crore to evacuate 4.5 GW RE power each from Rajasthan and Karnataka:
- The Government of India has approved new Interstate Transmission System (ISTS) schemes to evacuate 9 GW of RE power from Rajasthan and Karnataka.
- These schemes will be implemented through Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) mode.
- These schemes are part of 500 GW RE capacity by 2030 out of which 200 GW is already connected.
Waive Crop Loans For Each Farmer In The State: Telangana
- The Telangana state cabinet has approved a proposal to waive up to two lakh rupees worth of crop loans for each farmer in the state by August 15. Chief Minister A.
- Revanth Reddy said that crop loans taken between December 12th, 2018, and December 9th, 2023, will be eligible to avail of the waiver, a period that was not covered by the previous government’s loan waiver.
Archery World Cup 2024:
- India’s Jyoti Surekha Vennam, Parneet Kaur, and Aditi Swami clinched gold in the compound team event at the Antalya Archery World Cup 2024 in Turkiye.

53rd GST Council Meeting:
- FM Nirmala Sitharaman will chair the 53rd GST Council meeting in New Delhi on 21st June. The GST Council is meeting for the first time after the formation of a new government.
- The last GST Council meeting was held on October 7th, last year.
Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank gets national award for APY implementation:
- Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank (KVGB), a regional rural bank sponsored by Canara Bank, has been honored with a national award by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) for significant enrolment under the Atal Pension Yojana (APY).
RBI revises its incentive framework:
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has revised its incentive framework to push banks to increase the flow of priority sector credit to districts with lower credit flow in order to address the regional disparities at the district level.
- This effectively means that if a bank gives a Rs 100 loan in a low credit flow district, it will be considered a Rs 125 priority sector loan.
Additional Charge of NTA DG:
- The Director General of the National Testing Agency, Subodh Kumar Singh, was removed from the post on June 22, amid controversy over irregularities in exams.

Tajikistan Government Bans Hijab and Other ‘Alien Garments’:
- The upper house of the Tajikistan parliament, Majlisi Milli, passed a law prohibiting “alien garments,” which primarily targets the hijab and other traditional Islamic clothing.
- The lower chamber, Majlisi Namoyandagon, had passed the bill on May 8.
National Monetisation Pipeline:
- The government monetised assets worth ₹1.56 lakh crore under the National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP) in the financial year 2023-24, falling short of the target of ₹1.8 lakh crore.
- This performance represents approximately 159% of the achievement in 2021-22.
World Hydrography Day 2024:
- Every year on June 21st, the world celebrates World Hydrography Day. This important day, organized by the International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO).
- The theme for World Hydrography Day 2024 is: “Hydrographic Information – Enhancing Safety, Efficiency and Sustainability in Marine Activities“

- Bhartruhari Mahtab, a seven-term Lok Sabha member, has been appointed as the pro tem Speaker of the Lower House.
