10th World Water Forum:

  • The 10th World Water Forum under the theme of “Water for Shared Prosperity” officially opened on Indonesia’s island of Bali.
  • The 10th World Water Forum focused on four topics, namely water conservation, clean water and sanitation, food and energy security, and mitigation of natural disasters.
  • The World Water Forum is the largest international gathering in the water sector involving various stakeholders, which has been co-hosted by the World Water Council and a host city.
  • The Forum is held every three years and has been taking place since 1997.

Mission ISHAN:

  • India has initiated the process of consolidating its four airspace regions into a single entity spanning the entire nation, in order to refine and strengthen air traffic management (ATM).
  • The Airports Authority of India has called for expressions of interest to prepare a detailed project report for the Indian Single Sky Harmonized Air Traffic Management (ISHAN) initiative.

Youngest Indian to scale Mt Everest:

  • Sixteen-year-old Kaamya Karthikeyan has become the youngest Indian mountaineer to scale Mt Everest from the Nepal side. She also becomes the second youngest girl in the world to achieve this feat.

XP100 : premium petrol

  • Sri Lanka is about to receive 100 Octane premium petrol, known as XP100 rating fuel, which helps enhance the performance of vehicles, particularly high-end luxury cars and bikes.
  • This will be the first-ever fuel produced with the highest Octane rating to be released to Sri Lanka by the IOC.
  • It is special that this type of petrol, named XP100, has been developed locally in India.

Oxford Economics’ Global Cities Index:

  • Delhi has scored the 350th rank in the Oxford Economics’ Global Cities Index, which has compared the world’s 1000 largest cities on parameters ranging from economics to human capital.
  • The list of the 1000 largest cities, spread across 163 different countries, also features several other Indian cities, including Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Chennai.
  • In India, Bengaluru is ranked 411, Mumbai 427, Chennai 472, Kochi 521, Kolkata 528, Pune 534, Thrissur 550, Hyderabad 564 and Kozhikode 580. South Indian cities appear to be ranked higher on the list.

Decline in Net FDI to $10.5 Billion in FY24 : RBI

  • Net foreign direct investment (FDI) into India experienced a notable decrease of 62.17% in the fiscal year 2023-24 (FY24), plummeting to $10.58 billion from the previous year’s $27.98 billion.
  • This decline is attributed primarily to increased repatriation of capital and Indian companies’ investments abroad

33% Reservation for Women in Govt Contract Jobs : Karnataka

  • The Karnataka government has mandated a 33% reservation for women in outsourced government jobs.
  • This aligns with existing quotas for permanent positions and applies to jobs lasting more than 45 days and involving over 20 employees.

  • The U.N. describes a Non-Self-Governing Territory as a territory “whose people have not yet gained a complete degree of self-government.”

“Let’s Move India” campaign : IOC

  • The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has launched the “Let’s Move India” campaign in collaboration with the Reliance Foundation and the Abhinav Bindra Foundation.
  • The initiative aims to celebrate the Olympians heading to the upcoming Paris Olympics and encourage everyone to participate in physical activity.

AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026:

  • This storm will move northeast and is likely to turn into a depression by May 24.

CERT-In Warns Of Critical Flaws In Google Chrome:

  • The Center’s Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) just sent out a warning about major security holes found in Google Chrome.
  • CERT-In’s warning note, CIVN-2024-0170, talks about this worry and stresses how important it is for users to update their browsers right away.

World’s Rangelands : Degraded

  • About half of the world’s rangelands are degraded and need policy interventions, and communities depending on them need focused support, according to a new report of the United Nations Convention on Combating Desertification (UNCCD).

National Council For Cement And Building Materials-Incubation Centre:

  • The National Council for Cement and Building Materials-Incubation Centre (NCB-IC) was inaugurated by the Joint Secretary, DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
