- Under the strategic direction of the Ministry of Coal, Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) has embarked on an innovative pilot project for Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) at the Kasta coal block in Jamtara District, Jharkhand.
- This underscores the Ministry’s proactive diversification efforts within the coal sector.
UN Women’s Global Data on Women Political Leaders 2024:
- According to UN Women’s Global Data on Women Political Leaders 2024, women are still largely excluded from positions of power and diplomacy.
- The UN said, globally, women’s underrepresentation in decision-making remains a stark reality.
- A staggering 113 countries worldwide have never had a woman serve as head of state or government, and only 26 countries are led by women.
S&P Global Ratings retains India’s growth forecast for FY25 at 6.8%:
- The S&P Global Ratings on 24 June retained its growth forecast for India at 6.8% for FY25, citing high interest rates and lower fiscal boost tempering demand in the non-agricultural sectors. For FY26 and FY27, S&P projected India’s economy to grow at 6.9% and 7%, respectively

- Lt Gen NS Raja Subramani is set to be the next Vice Chief of Army Staff with the government clearing his appointment to the post, official sources said on June 20.
Haryana govt Increases Reservation for OBC Category from 15% to 27%:
- Nayab Singh Saini announced that the reservation for the backward classes in Group-A and Group-B posts, currently at 15 per cent, will be increased to 27 per cent, “in line with the Central government’s policy”.

Banks Bid Rs 1.6 Trillion in Variable Rate Repo Auction Amid Tightening Liquidity:
- Banks showed high demand for cash by bidding Rs 1.6 trillion in the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) variable rate repo (VRR) auction, held on Friday, against a notified amount of Rs 1 trillion.
SBI Distributes Rs 6,959 Crore Dividend to Government:
- The State Bank of India (SBI) has distributed a dividend of Rs 6,959 crore to the Indian government for the financial year 2023-24.
- This marks an increase from the previous year’s dividend of Rs 11.30 per share to Rs 13.70 per share.
National STOP Diarrhoea Campaign 2024:
- Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda launched the National STOP Diarrhoea Campaign 2024, on June 24.

S&P Retains India FY25 GDP Growth Estimate at 6.8%:
- S&P Global Ratings has maintained its GDP growth forecast for India at 6.8% for FY25, citing high interest rates and reduced fiscal stimulus as factors tempering demand in non-agricultural sectors.
- The projection for FY26 and FY27 stands at 6.9% and 7%, respectively.
