BCCI Announces INR 125 Crore Award For T20 World Champions India:

  • The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a consolidated cash prize of Rs. 125 crore for the Indian men’s T20 World Cup-winning squad.

SBI Launches MSME Sahaj: 15-Minute Online Loan Solution:

  • State Bank of India (SBI) has introduced “MSME Sahaj,” a revolutionary online business loan solution tailored for MSMEs.
  • This web-based platform allows MSMEs to obtain credit against their GST registered sales invoices swiftly and seamlessly.

Core Sector Growth Slows to 6.3% in May 2024:

  • In May 2024, growth in India’s core sector industries decelerated to 6.3% from 6.7% in April, driven by varied performance across sectors.
  • Coal and electricity saw accelerated growth due to increased demand during a heat wave, while sectors like cement and fertilizers contracted.

Japan Introduces Holographic Technology in New Banknotes:

  • Japan will introduce new banknotes featuring what it claims to be the world’s pioneering use of advanced holography.
  • This technology creates the illusion of historic figures’ portraits rotating in 3D on the bills, serving as a key anti-counterfeit measure.

Jharkhand Celebrates Hul Diwas:

  • Hul Kranti Diwas is celebrated on June 30 every year to mark the independence movement of 1855 led by tribal heroes Sidho, Kanho, Chand, Bhairav, among others.

SERA and Blue Origin Announce India as Partner Nation for Human Spaceflight Program:

  • Space Exploration and Research Agency (SERA) and Blue Origin have designated India as a partner nation in their human spaceflight initiative, inviting Indian citizens to participate in a historic opportunity.

Telecommunication Mobile Number Portability (9th Amendment) Regulations, 2024:

  • The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications (MoC), Government of India (GoI), has announced that Telecommunication Mobile Number Portability (9thAmendment) Regulations, 2024 issued on 14th March, 2024, will come into force from 1st July, 2024.

MoSPI Constituted Advisory Panel to Revise Base Year for GDP:

  • The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has constituted 26-member Advisory Committee on National Accounts Statistics (ACNAS) to revise the base year for Gross Domestic Product (GDP) data.
  • The new committee will be headed by Biswanath Goldar, former Professor of Institute of Economic Growth (IEG), as chairman.

6th & Final FATF Plenary held in Singapore:

  • The 6th and final Plenary of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) was held under the Presidency of T. Raja Kumar of Singapore held from 26th to 28th June 2024 in Singapore.
  • The FATF discussed and adopted the joint FATF/APG/EAG Mutual Evaluation Report(MER) of India which places India in the ‘regular follow-up’ category along with four other G20 (group of 20) countries: Russia, France, Italy, and the United Kingdom(UK).

India received USD120bn in remittances in 2023: World Bank

  • The World Bank (WB) released a report titled ‘Migration and Development Brief 40 June 2024: Remittances Slowed in 2023,Expected to Grow Faster in 2024‘.
  • As per it, India received USD 120 billion in remittances in 2023, a 7.5% increase.
  • The reason behind this increase is lower inflation and strong labor markets in the United States of America (USA) and Europe.

Union Bank of India Launches “Union Premier” Branches for High-Value Customers in RUSU Markets:

  • The Union Bank of India, one of the largest government-owned banks of India, launched its new “Union Premier” branches, designed for Union Bank’s high-value customers in the Rural and Semi-Urban (RUSU) markets at an event in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

IRS Officer Ravi Agrawal Appointed as Chairman Of CBDT:

  • Ravi Agrawal has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the administrative body for the Income Tax Department.
  • He is a 1988-batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer.
  • He succeeded Nitin Gupta, whose extended tenure ended on June 30, 2024.

Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi Takes Charge as 30th Chief of the Army Staff:

  • Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, the former Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS) took charge as the 30th Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) of the Indian Army (IA).

Japan Launched ALOS-4, an Earth Observation Satellite, on its New Flagship H3 Rocket:

  • Japan launched an earth observation satellite named, Advanced Land Observation Satellite-4 “DAICHI-4” (ALOS-4) on its new flagship third H3 Launch Vehicle (H3 F3: Flight No.3) from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) Tanegashima Space Center (TNSC), off the coast of Kyushu, Japan.

India Develops & Certifies New Explosive “SEBEX 2” With TNT Equivalence of 2.01:

  • India has developed and certified SEBEX 2, a new high-performance explosive that is 2.01 times more lethal than standard Trinitrotoluene (TNT).
  • The indigenously manufactured explosive SEBEX 2 completed certification tests by the Indian Navy under its Defence Export Promotion Scheme.

Sujata Saunik Becomes Maharashtra’s First Woman Chief Secretary:

  • On 30th June 2024, Sujata Saunik, a 1987 batch IAS officer of Maharashtra cadre, has become the first woman Chief Secretary (CS) of Maharashtra.
  • She has been appointed following the retirement of Nitin Kareer, who has been serving as the CS of Maharashtra since January 2024.
