Union Home Minister assured that no parliamentary seats will be reduced in South Indian states after the proposed delimitation exercise, countering Tamil Nadu CM concerns.Delimitation refers to fixing the number of seats and defining the boundaries of parliamentary and legislative assembly constituencies in each state. It ensures proportional representation based on population while determining reserved seats for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs).Delimitation Commission is established under an act of Parliament.It is a high-powered body, whose orders cannot be challenged in any court. The Election Commission assists in the process.
