Government e Marketplace (GeM) Celebrates 7 Years of SWAYATT Initiative:
The Government e Marketplace (GeM) celebrated the completion of seven years of the SWAYATT initiative. This is a flagship programme designed to promote the inclusive public procurement across India. SWAYATT Initiative was Launched on 19 February in the year 2019. The SWAYATT initiative on GeM focuses on helping startups, women entrepreneurs, youth, SHGs and micro enterprises. This also gave access government procurement markets. Over the years participation has increased significantly.The programme was introduced to democratize government procurement and expand opportunities for small enterprises.This initiative focuses on solving three major challenges faced by emerging businesses. The challenges include the limited market access, limited financial opportunities and also lack of value addition in procurement systems.
