Martyred in Delhi in 1675 for opposing forced conversions under Mughal rule. Symbol of spiritual courage, human rights, and freedom of conscience.Founded several towns including Anandpur Sahib, which later became a Sikh spiritual and military centre. Strengthened Sikh institutions and spread teachings through hymns later included in the Guru Granth Sahib.
