The honour, regarded as one of the highest distinctions for police forces in India, recognises sustained excellence and commitment to public service.The Sikkim Police was awarded the President’s Police Colour (Nishaan), making Sikkim the 15th state in India and the 3rd state in the North-East to receive this prestigious recognition since Independence.The President’s Police Colour Award, popularly known as the Nishaan, is a ceremonial honour granted to police forces for exceptional service, bravery, discipline, and professionalism.The award is symbolised by a flag and insignia, which is worn with pride on the left sleeve of the uniform.It reflects not individual acts, but the collective performance and legacy of a police force over the years.
