  • Overcrowded Prisons: over 130% occupancy
  • Undertrials: 77%
  • SC/ST/OBC: over 67% of inmates belong to these communities.
  • Highest number of undertrials: Uttar Pradesh> Bihar> MH
  • Transgender: Most prisons don’t have separate facilities including in Delhi
