UAE, Russia, and Saudi Among the Top Importers of Indian Engineering Goods:

  • A near-doubling of engineering goods exports to Russia in April-February 2023-24 and an increase in shipments to free trade partner countries the UAE and Australia have led to a 1.23 per cent growth in exports (year-on-year) from this segment, at $98.03 billion, despite an overall decline in goods exports during the period.

Vedanta’s BALCO, first Indian company to be certified with ASI Performance Standard:

  • Chhattisgarh-based Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), a unit of Vedanta Aluminium, has emerged as the first Indian company to achieve the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) Performance Standard V3 Certification for the manufacture and supply of a wide range of primary aluminium products at its facility in Korba.

Bulgaria and Romania partially join Europe’s Schengen area:

  • After a 13-year wait, Bulgaria and Romania have partially joined Europe’s Schengen area of free movement.
  • The two countries reached an agreement late last year to join the continent’s free-travel area by air and sea after Austria opposed full membership, including land crossings, saying Romania and Bulgaria needed to do more to prevent irregular migration.

GI-Tagged Products:

  • The northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh has taken the lead in having the highest number of Geographical Indication (GI) certified products in the country.
  • With the recent addition of 15 new products, Uttar Pradesh now boasts a total of 69 GI-tagged products

  • Vineet Jain, the managing director of the Times Group, received the prestigious Exchange4Media News Broadcasting Awards (ENBA) Lifetime Achievement Award 2023 for his significant contributions to Indian television news.

International Culture Award’ 2024:

  • Professor Meena Charanda, Principal of Kalindi College, Delhi University, has been awarded the prestigious ‘International Culture Award’ for the year 2024.
  • Prof. Charanda received this honour in recognition of her remarkable work in the field of education and social service.

New President of FICCI Ladies Organisation:

  • Joyshree Das Verma has taken over as the 41st National President of the FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) for the year 2024-25.
  • FLO is the oldest women-led and women-centric business chamber of South East Asia.

India’s First AI-Based Film ‘IRAH’ :

  • The trailer and song launch event for India’s first Hindi film on this subject, “IRAH,” took place in Mumbai.
