National Maritime Day 2024:
- India celebrates its National Maritime Day on April 5th, 2024. This day commemorates the inaugural voyage of the SS Loyalty, the first Indian-owned ship, from Mumbai to London in 1919.
- The theme for National Maritime Day in India is “Navigating the Future: Safety First!“. It was announced by the Ministry of Shipping.
Bandhan Mutual Fund announces the launch of the Bandhan Innovation Fund:
- Bandhan Mutual Fund (MF) announced the launch of the Bandhan Innovation Fund.
- The scheme will open for subscription on April 10 and will invest in companies with substantial R&D investment, high skilled-employee costs, potentially higher margins or growth, unique products or services, non-linear business models, and a notable brand presence.
Future Generali India Insurance appoints Ramit Goyal as chief distribution officer:
- Future Generali India Insurance Co (FGII) has elevated Ramit Goyal as its chief distribution officer with effect from April 1.
- Goyal takes over from Raghavendra Rao, who superannuated on March 31 after 14 years of service, the company said in a statement.
Manohar International Airport in Goa Launches Digi Yatra System:
- The Manohar International Airport in Mopa, Goa, has become the 14th airport in India to launch the Digi Yatra system.
World Economic Forum Announces 2024 Young Global Leaders Community:
- The World Economic Forum (WEF) has announced the 20th edition of its Young Global Leaders Community: The Class of 2024.
- The list includes nearly 90 individuals under the age of 40 from diverse fields, including politics, business, civil society, the arts, and academia.
India to Build First Strategic Petroleum Reserve with Private Company by 2029-30:
- India, the world’s third biggest oil importer and consumer, plans to build its first privately managed Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) by 2029-30.

- Forbes richest list 2024 Mukesh Ambani tops in India, Gautam Adani at 2On April 2, 2024, Forbes released its 38th annual World’s Billionaires list – ‘Forbes World’s Billionaires List: The Richest in 2024‘ in partnership with J.P. Morgan Bank. Bernard Arnault (France), Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH ) topped the list with a net worth of USD 233 Billion.
Romania & Bulgaria Partially Join Europe’s Schengen Travel Zone:
- Romania and Bulgaria became the newest Member States to partially join the Schengen area, the Europe’s ID-check-free travel zone. With this any person crossing the internal air and sea borders will no longer be subject to checks.
- With this, the Schengen area now has 29 members.
UPI Transactions Volume Increased by 56% in H2 2023: Worldline
- According to Worldline India Digital Payments Report H2 2023 the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions volume in the second half (H2) of 2023 (July 2023 – December 2023) increased by 56% to 65.77 billion from 42.09 billion in H2 2022.
