MoM Signs MoU with Central TB Division To Collaborative On Tuberculosis Elimination by 2025:

  • The Ministry of Mines (MoM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Central Tuberculosis (TB) Division of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) for collaborative and convergent action towards elimination of TB in India by 2025.
  • The MoU was signed by Farida M. Naik, Joint Secretary, MoM and Dr. K. K. Tripathy, Economic Advisor, MoHFW, Government of India (GoI) in the presence of officials from both the ministries.

India Participated in the Inaugural IPEF Clean Economy Investor Forum held in Singapore:

  • India participated in the inaugural Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) Clean Economy Investor Forum held in Singapore from 5th to 6th June 2024.
  • The Indian delegation to the forum was led by Sunil Barthwal, Secretary (Commerce) of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry(MoCI).
  • A business delegation led by Invest India also participated in the Forum.

UN Report: Global Public Debt Reached a Record of USD 97 Trillion in 2023

  • UN According to the United Nations (UN) assessment report, “ A World of Debt 2024: A Growing Burden to Global Prosperity,” the global public debt (both domestic and external borrowing by governments) has reached USD 97 trillion in 2023, an increase of USD 5.6 trillion compared to 2022.

WMO Climate Update (2024-2028): Global Temperature Likely to Temporarily Exceed 1.5°C in Next 5 Years:

  • According to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) annual report, “WMO Global Annual to Decadal Climate Update (2024-2028)”, there is an 80% chance that the average global temperature will temporarily exceed 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels for at least one of the next 5 years (2024-2028).

Peru & Slovakia Becomes the 41st and 42nd Signatories to the Artemis Accords:

  • Peru and Slovakia officially became the 41st and 42nd nation to sign the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)’s ‘Artemis Accords’, which establish a practical set of guidelines for peaceful space exploration and use of outer space.

SEBI Introduced Financial Disincentives Framework for MIIs for Surveillance:

  • The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) introduced a framework for Financial Disincentives For Surveillance Related Lapses (FDSRL) for Market Infrastructure Institutions (MIIs) including stock exchanges, clearing corporations and depositories in case of surveillance-related lapses in stock markets..

PhonePe Partners with PickMe To Enable UPI Payments For Indian Tourists in Sri Lanka:

  • PhonePe, a leading Fintech firm has partnered with PickMe, Sri Lankan ride-hailing platform to enable Unified Payments Interface (UPI)-based payments for Indian travellers in Sri Lanka.

NCLT Grants Approval For Vistara-Air India Merger:

  • The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) approved the merger of Vistara with Air India allowing a period of nine months for the dissolution of Vistara.
  • The merger resulted in the creation of one of the world’s largest airline conglomerates.
  • The approval was granted to the ‘Composite Scheme of Arrangement’ between the petitioner companies and their shareholders under Sections 230 to 232 and Companies Act, 2013 provisions.

TRISHNA: ISRO’s Joint Endeavour with France’s CNES to Monitor Earth Temperature:

  • The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) announced the details of Mission TRISHNA (Thermal Infra-Red Imaging Satellite for High-Resolution Natural Resource Assessment), a collaborative endeavour with the CNES (Centre national d’études spatiales), French space agency.
  • TRISHNA is a dedicated satellite to monitor Earth’s surface temperatures and mitigate climate change.

Market Regulator SEBI Fines 11 Individuals for Pump And Dump Scheme:

  • The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has slapped a fine of Rs 7.75 crore on 11 individuals for allegedly operating a ‘pump and dump’ scheme in scrip of Svarnim Trade Udyog.

European Commission Excludes Tanzania From Conservation Grant:

  • The European Commission (EC) has made a significant decision regarding Tanzania’s eligibility for a conservation grant under its NaturAfrica initiative.
  • This decision has implications for conservation efforts in East Africa, particularly concerning the Eastern Rift Savannahs and Watersheds (ERiSaWa) component of the initiative.

Moody’s Maintains Stable Outlook on Three Indian PSU Banks’ Ratings:

  • Moody’s Ratings (Moody’s) on Friday affirmed the Baa3 ratings on three Indian public sector banks — Bank of Baroda (BOB), Canara Bank, and Punjab National Bank (PNB).

Indian Navy’s First Woman Helicopter Pilot:

  • Sub Lieutenant Anamika B. Rajeev made history at INS Rajali, Arakkonam, when she became the first woman in the Indian Navy to fly a helicopter.
  • Last week, this important milestone was reached during the passing out parade.
  • The 102nd Helicopter Conversion Course was completed.

  • UNESCO has launched the Greening Curriculum Guidance (GCG) and Green School Quality Standards (GSQS) under the Greening Education Partnership.

ABHA-Based Scan And Share Service:

  • The National Health Authority (NHA) has achieved a milestone of generating over 3 crore tokens for Out-Patient Department (OPD) registrations through the ABHA-based Scan and Share service.
  • It enables patients to conveniently register for OPD appointments by scanning a QR code displayed at the OPD registration counter.

Suhelwa Wildlife Sanctuary (SWS) : New Tiger Reserve

  • New tiger reserve will soon be established in Uttar Pradesh, following evidence of tiger population in the Suhelwa Wildlife Sanctuary (SWS).

Operation Bluestar : 40th Anniversary

  • Slogans favouring Khalistan (sovereign state for Sikhs) were raised recently in the premises of the Golden Temple complex in Punjab’s Amritsar during the 40th anniversary of ‘Operation Bluestar’.
  • Operation Bluestar was an Indian military operation in June 1984 ordered by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to root out a group of militant Sikh separatists who had occupied the Golden Temple in Punjab’s Amritsar, the Sikhs’ holiest shrine.
