IDFC FIRST Bank, LIC Cards and Mastercard collaborate to launch a co-branded credit card to meet the financial needs of India:

  • IDFC FIRST Bank, LIC Cards and Mastercard announced their collaboration to launch an exclusive co-branded credit card.
  • It is available in two variants — LIC Classic and LIC Select, the credit cards will provide more than 27 crore policyholders across the country an opportunity to save in the form of reward points on every LIC insurance premium payment.

Parama Sen appointed part-time member of PFRDA board:

  • The Centre has appointed Parama Sen, Additional Secretary, Department of Expenditure in the Finance Ministry, as a part-time member of the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA).

Presence of Indian banks via subsidiaries increased to 417 in FY23: RBI

  • Indian banks increased their overseas presence through the subsidiaries route to 417 during 2022-23, from 399 at the end of the preceding fiscal, as per Reserve Bank data released.

COP28 Concluded:

  • The United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP28, has concluded with a historic agreement to transition away from fossil fuels, triple renewable energy and increase climate finance for the most vulnerable.
  • It aims to keep alive the goal of the Paris Agreement to try to limit long-term global average near-surface temperature to 1.5°C above the pre-industrial era.

Defence Ministry approves Rs 2800 crore Rockets for Pinaka Weapon System:

the Defence Ministry has approved a Rs 2,800 crore proposal for buying around 6,400 rockets for Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launcher systems.

RBI authorises Bandhan Bank to disburse pensions to railway employees:

  • Bandhan Bank has announced that it has been authorised by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for the disbursement of pensions through e-PPOs on behalf of the Ministry of Railways.
  • Indian Railways is the largest employer in the country with an employee strength of nearly 12 lakhs.

National Mission For Clean Ganga Targets Cumulative Sewerage Treatment Capacity Of 7,000 MLD By December 2026:

  • Under the Namami Gange Programme, in the Ganga basin, a total of 195 sewerage infrastructure projects have been taken up with a cost of ₹ 31,344.13 crore for the creation & rehabilitation of 6,173.12 Million Litres per Day (MLD) of a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) capacity.

Directorate General of Civil Aviation grants licence for Ayodhya Airport:

  • The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has granted an aerodrome license for the Ayodhya Airport, paving the way for its inaugural flight on December 30.
