Tidal flooding has become frequent in Ernakulam district lately. With the invading water staying on longer, more areas are getting affected.Tidal flooding refers to the temporary inundation of low-lying coastal areas during high tide events, such as full and new moons. It is often called sunny day flooding or king tide flooding when associated with extreme high tides.Tidal flooding occurs when the combination of high tide, offshore storms, winds, and full moon cycles leads to a temporary rise in local sea levels. Coastal drainage systems often fail to cope with this sudden increase, resulting in localized flooding.
